Other Worlds (2019-20)
for flute quartet (6′30″)
The isorhythmic motet is a Medieval musical form in which fast-moving upper voices sing over one or two slow-moving lower voices that repeats the same rhythmic pattern over and over. For the second movement of my flute quartet, Other Worlds, I wanted to experiment with the texture of the Medieval motet but with a more contemporary harmonic language.
