Fibonacci Boogie Woogie (2021)

Fibonacci Boogie Woogie is a percussion duet for various small percussion instruments — bongos, shakers, djembe, tin cans, mixing bowls, etc. — played primarily with the hands. The rhythmic character builds on an idea I devised for an earlier piano piece; rather than building up phrases with 2s and 4s as in a traditional piece, the phrases in Fibonacci Boogie Woogie are organized using the numbers in the Fibonacci sequence: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, ….
